Legal notice on data protection
The confidentiality and integrity of your personal information is one of our primary concerns in the review, inspection and possible repair of the bicycle sold to you by the dealer.
The processing of your personal data is performed by Europe Cycle Company B.V. (ECC) with registered office in Zaandam and registered in the Commercial Register of the Chamber of Commerce under number 34284416. You can reach us via our contact page.
ECC provides customers with certain information and assistance services related to their bicycle and, in this case, is the point of contact for all operational matters surrounding the inspection and monitoring of bicycles and any repair work. ECC shares your data with third parties directly involved in the checking, inspection and any repair to ensure that the services are delivered to you and to provide support in case of problems.
For compliance with;
- (i) legal provisions to which ECC is subject, such as in the case of a recall or repair obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) AVG),
- (ii) contractual obligations (Art. 6(1)(b) AVG),
- (iii) for providing the agreed services and ensuring product quality and development of new products (Art. 6(1)(f) AVG)
- iv) the performance of sales, service and administrative processes of ECC and its authorized dealers or engaged third parties (Art. 6 para. 1 under f AVG),
- v) customer service (Art. 6 paragraph 1 a, b and f AVG) in the case of the settlement of a request from you,
it is necessary for certain (personal) data to be processed by ECC and other selected suppliers or engaged third parties.
It is the following categories of data that are processed:
- Contact information (consumer or dealer, last name, first name, address, e-mail address, telephone, zip code, house number, address and city)
- Account information and (any) Login information and registration information
We will contact you, depending on which contact information you have provided, for example, in writing, by telephone, by message service, or by e-mail about all aspects of processing a request. Where necessary, we will seek your consent before processing certain data.
Bicycle specific data is processed for the provision of service (repair, warranty, goodwill) by ECC and authorized dealers or engaged third parties. This processing takes place under the legitimate interest of ECC to provide the best possible service to customers. Data may also be processed on the basis of legal obligations that pertain to the processing of repair and maintenance information. This may include, in addition to contact data
- General bike data (type, frame number, photo cargo bike, color, equipment, etc.)
- Vehicle maintenance dates (purchase date, purchase receipt, purchase location, etc.)
Collected data is also processed as part of internal compliance management at ECC, where we assess aspects such as whether you have been adequately advised and whether all legal requirements have been met.
Collected data is also processed as part of securing the operation of ECC's IT systems, such as:
- Backup and recovery of data processed in ECC's IT systems;
- Logging and monitoring operations to control the specific functionality of IT systems;
- Detect and prevent unauthorized access to data to ensure the integrity and security of ECC's IT systems;
- Incident and problem management for resolving problems in IT systems.
If data processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw this consent at any time for future processing.

As a person whose data is processed, you have certain rights in accordance with the AVG and in accordance with other privacy provisions.
Right to access and/or obtain a copy of your information (Art. 15 AVG): You can request information about the personal data we hold about you at any time. This information includes the categories of personal data processed by us, the purposes for which we process it, the source of the data if we did not receive it directly from you and, where applicable, the recipients to whom we sent the data. You may obtain a copy of your personal data from us without charge.

The data retention period is five (5) years from the time a consumer's request is settled and the bicycle is returned after completion. This period is consistent with a statutory limitation period and is related to a legal administrative basis deemed necessary by ECC.
In case of differences between the Dutch text and translations thereof, only the content of the Dutch text is decisive.
